Increased Articulation

If you're going to climb large-sized and odd-shaped objects such as piled-up pillows in the living room or rock piles outside, you DON'T want a stiff suspension. That sway bar attached the the lower rear links on the Wheely King helps stabilize the truck for wheelies and cornering, which is cool, but pull it off and be amazed at the bone-stock suspension's ability to soak up crazy terrain! I think the 1/12-scale WK probably has as much suspension travel as the 1/8-scale Savage: very impressive. Here are the before and after shots for removing the sway bar:

  • Difficulty: Easy!
  • Pros: MUCH better ability to get up and over things while keeping tires in contact with the ground, and it looks cool
  • Cons: Decreased stability when doing wheelies, increased body lean when cornering
  • Cost: Free!
  • Additional Tip: This piece is very easy to install and remove; keep it handy in case you want to re-install it for different terrain and vehicle usage
