Installing a Wing on your Savage - Method 1

Putting wings on monster trucks has become more and more popular as time goes on, but doing so on a Savage isn't the easiest thing in the world. Fortunately a couple friends of mine have done just that! Here are some pics and a paraphrased write-up of one of the Savage wing projects, with the other one soon to come.
    Parts Needed
  • New Era #HSV336MT (HPI Savage Wing Mount & Adapter Plate)
  • Ofna 9.5 Wing 9.5 #40083 (or equivalent)
Simply assemble mount but remember to threadlock the screws! Take out the clips for the body post and position the body post one notch up from the bottom resting position. Drill through the visible holes using a 3mm drill bit.

Now your ready to mount the wing arm. Use the M3 x 25mm bolts supplied in the kit or switch to hex-head screws.

Now Mark your holes on your wing and use a 5/16" drill bit to put the holes in your wing and mount it up. Enjoy! Saxy174

Installing a Wing on your Savage - Method 2

This version is most likely cheaper but custom (more work), and you still need to buy a buggy/truggy wing stay and wing. I don't have a write-up on this one yet, but one should be coming. Essentially you take a couple Savage tie rods, trim back the sides of a bulkhead spacer, similarly modify your wing stay, and bolt it together. Mounting the stay to the shock tower can be challenging, I'll try to get some pics and info on how this was done.
