HPI Savage Tips, Mods, and Fixes
The Savage Mid-Tank Mod
The "mid-tank mod" is a very popular modification for Savage owners for different reasons. Some say it eliminates the "half-tank lean" issue, others do it to better protect the fuel tank, and some simply do it just for fun or to do something different. There are various ways to go about accomplishing this modification, and there's no "wrong" way to do it. The main thing is putting the fuel tank between the front shock tower and the transmission and the moving whatever is in the way to alternate locations. Usually this means moving the throttle/brake servo next to the engine and the battery pack in front of the front shock tower, but as with any mod, it's up to the customizer!
Below are pictures of a couple examples of mid-tank-modded Savages. Click a picture to go to a write-up on it with more pics showing how it was done.
