The original Savage 21:

HPI Racing released the much-anticipated 1/8-scale Savage 21 monster truck in November, 2002 and it was a huge hit from Day 1. It retained many industry standards (wheel/tire size, body size, clutch, electronics, etc.), but departed from the norm in many cases as well, most notably the unique "Twin Vertical Plate" chassis design and the factory-installed big-block engine.

Since its introduction, HPI Racing has made many changes to the Savage, sometimes releasing new versions and sometimes making running changes during production.

Several Savage models have come (and some have gone) in the U.S. over the years, including the original Savage 21 RTR, Savage 25 RTR, Savage 25 SS, Savage 25 LE RTR, Savage 25 KFX RTR, Savage 4.6 SS, Savage X RTR, Savage X SS 4.6, Savage X 4.6 RTR, and Savage XL 5.9.
