Making Ramps for R/Cs
Bashing on a BMX track or in a skate park is a blast, but what if you live where those facilities aren't available and your backyard is flatter than Gwen Stafani?Make a ramp!
But we'll concentrate on some projects between those extremes. The idea is to make the transition from the ground to the ramp and then to the exit angle as smooth as possible to maintain the vehicle's speed for max air. So the flatter the entry angle and longer the curve, the smoother it'll be. However, the longer your vehicle has to climb the ramp, the slower it'll be going when it leaves. Keeping all these things in mind, plus the fact that a ramp needs to be portable, should fit inside your car, be made as inexpensively as possible, be durable, and should be relatively easy to build, you can decide which criteria are the most important and build the one that suits your needs.
NOTE: Be careful with power tools! Also, feel free to glue any joints in addition to using the screws as described in the plans below. The glue will provide a more rigid structure and will probably help the ramp last longer. I rarely use glue, but only because I tend to forget about it until it's too late.
