If you're not already aware, "RC" or "R/C" is short for "radio-controlled" and it generally refers to driving or flying a car, truck, boat, plane, or helicopter using a wireless controller that communicates your commands to the vehicle. My main interest is in ground-based, off-road vehicles, and there are two main groups of such enthusiasts: Bashers and Racers.

-- a "Racer" is one who most often uses his or her R/C vehicle for competitive racing.
-- a "Basher" is one who most often uses his or her R/C vehicle for, well, everything other than racing!

Naturally there's a lot of overlap between racers and bashers. Most R/C hobbyists seem to start out bashing around just to see what it's like; many add racing to the mix and do both, some switch over to racing only, and some stay 100% bashers.

This website is heavily basher-oriented because that's my main interest and it's much more fun, at least to me, to show and discuss vehicles that are modified for better looks, performance, and durability than race vehicles that have coated shock shafts and ceramic bearings you can't even see. Racing can be a blast and it definitely has its place....just not on this website.
